Mr. David Carter
David W. Carter, Chairman, currently serves as President of DaCart, Inc., which he co-founded in 2006. He was elected as a member of the board of Caliper Life Sciences in 2006, following the acquisition of Xenogen Corporation. Previously, Mr. Carter had served as Chairman of the Board of Xenogen since November 1997, and as Xenogen’s Chief Executive Officer since April 2003. From January 1998 to April 2003, he served as Xenogen’ Co-Chief Executive Officer. From 1991 to May 1997, he served as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Somatix Therapy Corporation, a publicly-held gene therapy company, which merged with Cell Genesys, Inc, in 1997. Mr. Carter is a director of Cell Genesys, Inc. and ImmunoGen, Inc. Mr. Carter received a B.A. in history and an M.B.A. from Indiana University.
Dr. Thomas Shenk
Thomas Shenk is the Elkins Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. Professor Shenk is a virologist, who has investigated gene functions and pathogenesis of adenovirus, a DNA tumor virus, and human cytomegalovirus, a herpes virus. Professor Shenk is the recipient of the Eli Lilly Award from the American Society of Microbiology, an American Cancer Society Professorship and an Investigatorship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is a member of the American Academy of Microbiology, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Institute of Medicine. He is a past president of the American Society for Virology and a past president of the American Society for Microbiology. He is currently a member of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, and a member of the Board of Directors of CV Therapeutics, and Merck and Company.
Ms. Lynda Wijcik
Lynda L. Wijcik is Managing Partner of BioBridge LLC. From January 1995 to September 2006 Ms. Wijcik consulted, invested and assisted companies in financings as a managing partner of her consulting firm Biobridge Associates. In October 2006 Biobridge LLC was formed by Ms. Wijcik and her husband to do Investments. She has held V.P. Marketing and V.P. Business Development positions in Metra and Connetics, respectively. She has assisted several biotech companies in raising over $100 million in seed, first, and second round venture capital financing. These companies include NexRay, Geron, Connetics, Metra Biosystems, Nanogen, Onyx Pharmaceuticals, and Origen Therapeutics. She is Chairman of NovaRay and Director of Origen Therapeutics and United Systems Access, a telecommunications company. She received her B.Sc. degree from Simon Fraser University (Canada).
Dr. Tim Harris
Tim Harris, Ph.D. is Director, Advanced Technology Program, SAIC, Frederick, Inc. Dr. Harris was previously Chief Executive Officer of Structural GenomiX (SGX), a cancer therapeutics development company. Dr. Harris has been in the Biotechnology Industry for over 25 years. Before founding and running SGX, Dr. Harris was Senior Vice President of Research at Axys Pharmaceuticals. Before that Dr. Harris was Senior Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Technical Officer and a member of the Board of Directors at Sequana Therapeutics. Prior to that, he was the Head of Biotechnology for Glaxo Group and Head of Molecular Biology at Celltech Ltd in the UK.
Mr. Spencer Wang
Spencer Wang most recently served as the Chief Investment Officer and co-portfolio manager at Seasons Capital Management, LLC. He joined Seasons Capital in February 2004 after having spent the period from October 2001 through February 2004 as a senior member of Andor Capital Management, LLC. At Andor, Mr. Wang was responsible for the Global Systems and Suppliers team and helped the firm expand its presence in Asia by building out offices in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. From February 1999 through September 2001, Mr. Wang was a Vice President and served as the Head of Global Semiconductors for Pequot Capital Management, Inc. Previously, Mr. Wang was an investment banker for over five years. Between December 1997 and February 1999, Mr. Wang was a corporate finance associate focused on the technology sector for the CSFB Technology Group, DMG Technology Group and Salomon Brothers Inc. From July 1993 through December 1997, Mr. Wang held various positions at Salomon Brothers in New York. Mr. Wang received his B.S. in Economics summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1992.
